Installing Ecowarm RadiantBoard over concrete may be called for to create a more responsive slab assembly, cover an existing slab in a remodel or deal with height considerations. There are three assemblies that we recommend that may meet you design objectives.
Ecowarm RadiantBoard may be installed directly over concrete slabs only when the contractor has verified that moisture conditions will be adequately controlled by the use of a sealant on the slab or a vapor barrier under the slab.
Ecowarm RadiantBoard Over Plywood with Concrete with Vapor Barrier or Waterproofing
ECOWARM may be installed on 5/8” T&G treated plywood with a vapor barrier or waterproofing over concrete slabs only when the contractor has verified that moisture conditions will be adequately controlled by the use of a sealant on the slab or a vapor barrier over or under the slab. The plywood may be either floated over the slab or attached with Tap Cons if the concrete floor has some irregularities. When using a sealant and adhesive on top of the slab, the sealant may be a combination sealant/ adhesive such as Sika Bond T-21 or a vapor membrane adhesive such as Hydroment Ultraseal.
Ecowarm RadiantBoard over plywood, foam insulation, and vapor barrier or waterproofing
An extra layer of high-density foam insulation is a good idea to reduce downward heat loss if height limitations permit.
Ecowarm RadiantBoard may be installed on 5/8” T&G treated plywood, over foam, and with a vapor barrier or waterproofing over concrete slabs only when the contractor has verified that moisture conditions will be adequately controlled by the use of a sealant on the slab or a vapor barrier over or under the slab.
